Lynn’s Landing- Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
A little down time has me reflecting.
In 2016 Lynn (my love) and I decided we would build a small venue ourselves. As months progressed and Lynn dug out trees to make way for our vision, Jesus called him Home. At that point, I shut my world down for about a year.
After a year had passed, I knew that I needed to be busy or my mind was going to get the best of me. So, I asked my brother and some friends if they wanted to proceed in the dream that Lynn and I had. Without hesitation, they all said yes, so we all got started. Busy doesn't even come close to the hard work that was ahead of us. If anything could go wrong in the construction, weather, contractors, machinery, etc, it seemed to go wrong. Lots of nights I walked home and cried. And I asked God, “Am I not supposed to be doing this? Why is everything going wrong?”
Close to a year had passed again. It's the dead of winter, and we're almost finished with the build. A recently engaged young lady comes and wants to tour the venue, so I meet with her. As she looks around, she smiles. As she leaves she says ,“I'll get back with you.” A few weeks later, she calls and asks “Kim will you be finished in a couple of months?” Yes was my answer. She said she wanted to book. My reply was, “When is your wedding date?” She asked if February the eighth is available. With tears in my eyes, I said yes. And she said, “Perfect. That's the day I wish to have my wedding.”
That's when I knew God had stood with me through all the tears of the previous months because February the eighth is Lynn's birthday. So, with tears of joy, I knew this was going to be something fabulous. Because God’s hand was in it.
So for now, you know that it was named after my first love. The landing came from the fact that Lynn loved to see the geese come in and land on the pond. And Lynn would always say, “Geese mate forever, and they never leave each other.” Little did I know that it was a true fact. Therefore the Lynn's Landing logo was created.
Before every ceremony, whether I'm on site or away, I pray for the bride and groom to love God first, then each other. And to always seek God’s guidance and to always know that God loves them even more than the one that holds their hand.
I’ve always heard that you see God the most in your rearview mirror, but always remember, your windshield is much larger. So, I can only imagine what God has planned in front of me.
